Frequently Asked Questions

  • Great question! Financial coaching and financial advising serve different but complementary roles in helping individuals and business owners achieve financial well-being. Here’s a breakdown of the key differences and why working with a financial coach—even if you have a financial advisor—can be incredibly valuable.

    Financial Coaching

    • Focuses on behavior, mindset, and financial habits

    • Helps you understand and improve your relationship with money.

    • Empowers you with practical budgeting, cash flow management, and debt reduction strategies.

    • Works on day-to-day financial decisions and goal setting.

    • Provides accountability, education, and real-world tools.

    Financial Advising

    • Focuses on investment strategies, insurance, and financial products

    • Manages portfolios, retirement accounts, and wealth-building strategies

    • Provides specific investment advice and long-term financial planning

    • Helps with wealth accumulation, risk management, and asset allocation

    • Often requires a certain level of assets or income to work with them

    Bottom Line

Financial advisors help you build wealth, while financial coaches help you build financial confidence and healthy habits—both are valuable, but they serve different needs. If you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to align your money with your values and goals, working with a coach can be a powerful step forward.

  • Even if you have a financial advisor, a coach can help you:

    • Bridge the gap between advice and action – Advisors provide strategies, but a coach helps you implement them in a way that fits your lifestyle.

    • Improve financial habits and decision-making – Coaching focuses on daily money management, not just long-term investments.

    • Address emotional and mindset barriers around money – Many people struggle with financial stress, avoidance, or limiting beliefs—coaching helps untangle those issues.

    • Gain financial confidence and empowerment – A coach teaches you how to manage money on your own, so you feel in control instead of reliant on someone else.

    • Make the most of your advisor’s recommendations – If your advisor gives you a plan but you don’t know where to start, a coach helps break it down into achievable steps.

  • For this meeting, we'll focus on your unique journey, priorities, and vision for the future. Jenni approaches financial coaching and planning as a personalized, collaborative process, and is always excited to learn more about what success looks like for you.

    What to expect:

    • During our time together, we’ll discuss your past experiences, current concerns, and future goals.

    • Jenni will provide an overview of the process and answer any questions you have.

Out goal is to create an open and welcoming space where we can explore your financial priorities and take meaningful first steps together.

To best prepare for our meeting, here are a few key areas to reflect on:

    • What’s been on your mind? Are there specific financial concerns or items you’d like clarity on?

    • What are your top priorities? Whether it’s reaching a milestone or creating a sense of security, I’d love to hear what drives you.

    • Where are you now, and where do you want to go? Consider your current financial situation and envision what success looks like for you.

If any of these questions feel overwhelming, don’t worry—this meeting is about exploring these areas together. Please feel free to share anything that’s on your mind and reach out if you have questions before we meet.

  • Nope, sorry.
My role is to coach you to find your own power, strength and confidence to manage and manifest your ideal relationship with your money and resources.
You wouldn’t tell a fitness or wellness coach to do it for you. The same is true here. I’m your guide, you do the work.

  • It is our priority that education and guidance be made available to anyone who seeks it.

To best facilitate this we offer several different packages, customizable options as well as group coaching.

We also offer downloadable workbooks, spreadsheets and journals if you would prefer the self-guided options. (On-demand courses are in progress! ETA Spring 2025)

  • That’s up to you!

Jenni offers in-person at her office in Urbandale, or anywhere local to the DSM Metro. She also offers virtual sessions for anyone out of the metro or for whom a commute might be challenging.

Just make sure to let us know where and how you’d like to meet when you schedule.

  • This will depend on your needs, budget and priorities. Most commonly I recommend working together for a minimum of 3 months, ideally 6, meeting every two weeks. For the most complete and lasting results, we recommend our 12 month program to ensure confidence with you new tools and to prepare you for the road ahead.

While initial consultaions typiclly take 30-45 minutes, individual coaching session can last anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours depending on your need and the service you choose.
